Punjab government declares Eidul Fitr holidays following federal guidelines. Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to determine date, ensuring transparency.
The Punjab government has officially announced holidays for the upcoming Eidul Fitr festival, marking the end of the Ramadan month. Following the federal government's schedule, Punjab's offices will be closed from April 10 to 12 for those operating five days a week, and from April 10 to 13 for those operating six days a week. The central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, will convene in Islamabad on April 9 to sight the Eidul Fitr moon, determining the festival's date based on received testimonies. This transparent process aligns with Islamic traditions. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Eidul-Fitr is expected to fall on April 10, with the Shawwal moon anticipated to be sighted on April 9, 2024.
