CCTV footage surfaced on Thursday showing the attempted abduction of Pakistani actress Nimra Khan in Karachi’s upscale DHA area.
The footage confirms earlier reports from Nimra, who had revealed that on August 11 at 7:21 PM, she was targeted while waiting for her car.
The video shows Nimra standing by the roadside when a motorbike stops near her. She quickly starts walking away and signals for a passing car to stop. As the car halts, the motorbike riders swiftly flee the scene.
In response to the incident, DIG South Asad Raza and SSP South Sajid Sadozai have initiated a formal investigation. A committee, headed by SDPO Manisha Rupeta, has been formed to probe the case further.
Actress Nimra Khan's harrowing experience was revealed in a video statement that quickly went viral on social media. In the video, she recounted "I was waiting for my car outside a restaurant in DHA Phase-VIII."
She said that her family was stuck in the traffic due to the rain, and she was waiting for them, with her cell phone in hand and bag slung over her shoulder.
Suddenly, three men came close to her, Nimra said, adding" One of the men grabbed my hand and the other put a pistol to my waist and tried to kidnap me."
They attempted to forcefully drag her into their vehicle at gunpoint. Nimra, however, resisted the attackers and started running towards the pavement.
The actress said that she cried for help but no one heard her in the traffic, even the four security guards were sitting outside the restaurant did not respond to her hue and cry.
"I knew I had to act fast. I pushed a bike and made a run for it," she said. Having thrown the suspects off balance, Nimra said, "fearing they will shoot me from behind. I ran towards a moving car and stood in front of it. The family inside, realising that I was in distress opened the door and saved me." At the same time, Nimra said, the entire team of the restaurant rushed out to her rescue.
The suspects, seeing the rush must have slipped away.
