ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain storms in different parts of the country including upper Punjab, Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), south Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next 24 hours.

Heavy falls are likely at isolated places in northeast Punjab, Potohar region, upper KP and AJK.

According to the synoptic situation, monsoon currents are continuously penetrating from the Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal to the eastern and upper parts of the country.

A trough of westerly waves was also present in northern parts of the country.

During the last 24 hours, thunderstorms occurred at a few places in upper KP, south Punjab, Sindh, central Balochistan and AJK.

In KP, highest rainfall was recorded in Cherat (46mm) followed by Kakul (15mm) Kalam and Dir (Lower) (1mm).

Likewise in Punjab, Rahim Yar Khan received 18mm of rain, Chakwal, Joharabad 12mm, Khanpur 11mm, Gujrat 8mm, Khanpur 3mm and Jhang 1mm.

Different parts of Karachi received heavy torrents as well including North Karachi (4mm), MOS (2mm), and Gulshan-e-Maymar (1mm). As for Hyderabad, Rohri received 2mm of rain.

The city of Sukkur in Sindh received only 1mm of rainfall.

Jilwani and Kalat regions of the province of Balochistan saw 5mm and 4mm of rainfall, respectively.

5mm of rain fell on Kashmir’s city of Kotli whereas the town of Garhi Dupatta received 4mm of rain.

The Muzaffarabad region saw 1mm of rainfall during the ongoing monsoon season.

The highest temperatures recorded in the country were 44°C in Chillas and 43°C in Bunji.
