Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri came clean about the nature of the relationship between their characters in hit series, The Bear.
According to Vanity Fair, the actors shut down implications of romance between hot-headed head chef Carmy, played by White, and sous-chef Sydney, played by Edebiri, during a press conference earlier this week.
They replied “No” in unison when asked about the prospective storyline, with the 33-year-old adding: “There was no talk in the rooms about any romantic implications."
Edebiri went on to explain the dynamics between the characters as official business partners in upcoming season 3, noting Sydney has "really looked up to" Carmy, but she's now "in the thick of doing business with" him – which is "a lot more chaotic than she might have idealized before they really started working together.”
The Iron Claw actor echoed similar sentiments noting Carmy has been “trying to welcome in a little bit,” prompting advent of the business nature of their relationship.
"He's got a lot going on in his mind all the time, and people aren’t always aware of exactly what’s going on,” White added.
Fans of The Bear continued to root for a romantic relationship between the characters, owing to Jeremy and Ayo’s undeniable chemistry seeping through TV screens.
Hence, while the actors’ categorical stance came as a breathe of fresh air for some, it left others feeling disappointed and frustrated.
