Have you ever tried updating your WhatsApp status with an image or video but it looked incomplete because they did not fully cover the screen? Well, not anymore!

WhatsApp has announced that it is rolling out a feature that likely addresses this issue and enhances the visual appeal of images and videos on status updates.

According to WABetaInfo, Meta's instant messaging app is rolling out a feature automatically generates a background gradient filter for images and videos shared via status update when the selected image or video doesn't completely fill the screen.

The new background blends the edges of the media with a gradient that harmonises with the overall design of the status update screen, choosing the predominant colour of the selected media to ensure a smooth transition with the background, WABetaInfo reported.

Currently, only the users of WhatsApp beta for Android can try out the new feature after installing the latest updates for the app from the Google Play Store.

Try sharing a 1:1 photo format in their status updates and if the background gradient filter appears around the edges of the photo, it means that the feature is available to your account.

Experimenting with different photo formats can help users understand the filter's impact on their status updates and enjoy a more polished presentation.

This feature is rolling out to even more people over the coming weeks.
