Kevin Fiege opens up on 'Blade' reboot, teases R-rating

Kevin Fiege, Marvel Studios president, seems to be keeping his optimism when it comes to the making of a Blade reboot, even if it has been considerably delayed since its announcement in 2019.

The movie is still set to star two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali in the titular role.

Being announced five years ago, the movie has seen several writers come and go, but Feige doesn’t consider this a reason to “rush” the project.

“I think that’s right,” Feige said. “I mean, for the last two years as we’ve been trying to crack that movie, the most important thing for us is not rushing it and making sure we are making the right Blade movie.”

Feige also compared the forthcoming and the previous Blade movies to Deadpool & Wolverine, which is the first R-rated movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, saying that Blade is also going to keep its rating.

He continued, “Because there were some great ‘Blade’ movies years ago — they were all rated-R. So I think that’s, like Deadpool, inherent with the character of Blade.”

Marvel’s “Blade” is currently slated to be released on Nov. 7, 2025.
