Renowned Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat is generating significant buzz as reports emerge about her imminent return to drama serials after an 8-year break.

Mehwish, who made a brief but impactful return to television seven months ago with the telefilm ‘Ijazat,’ starring alongside fashion icon Hassan Sheheryar Yasin (HSY), is now rumored to be taking on a leading role in an upcoming drama.

While her role in ‘Ijazat’ marked her first television appearance in seven years, her last full-scale drama was in 2016.

The rumor mill suggests that Mehwish will be reuniting with Ahsan Khan in this new project, set to air on a private entertainment channel. The news has already sparked excitement among fans eager to see the duo share the screen once again.

Various media outlets are speculating that this much-anticipated drama will premiere by December of this year, with further details expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.

For those who might need a reminder, Mehwish Hayat last captivated drama audiences in the popular series ‘Dil Lagi’ alongside Humayun Saeed in 2016. Since then, she has become a prominent figure in several blockbuster films.

Earlier, speaking at a podcast, Hayat explained her reasons for not working in Bollywood.

"I received many offers[from Bollywood], but I declined all of them," she stated.

The London Nahi Jaunga star cited the abundance of opportunities in Pakistan as her primary reason for rejecting Bollywood roles.

"I have countless opportunities here in Pakistan. I have been part of the revival of Pakistani cinema and some of its biggest and most successful films. I have received immense respect and love in my country," she said while expressing her gratitude towards the fans for their appreciation of her work.

The actress added, "After gaining so much recognition and success in my own country, I felt that I should not accept offers from Bollywood. I enjoy my work here in Pakistan. People come to watch my films with their families, and that is a great achievement."
