In Islamabad, Pakistan, following his contentious arrest and the ensuing unrest, over twenty-five leaders affiliated with the Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan have resigned. The party attributes this mass departure to the ongoing government crackdown.

The most significant blow to Khan’s party during this exodus occurred when Shireen Mazari, the former human rights minister, officially left PTI on Tuesday. Mazari’s decision followed multiple detentions, which began after her initial arrest on May 12 in connection with the fatal protests that erupted following Khan’s arrest.
