RAWALPINDI: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) reported on Thursday that six terrorists were eliminated, while four soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice in two separate counterterrorism operations within the tribal districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
According to the military’s media wing, fierce encounters between the terrorists and security forces occurred during the night of October 18 and 19 in North and South Waziristan districts.
The ISPR noted that the initial clash took place in North Waziristan’s Gharyoum area, where security forces effectively engaged the terrorist location, resulting in the demise of six militants.
Among the neutralized terrorists was a high-value target, the terrorist ringleader Hazrat Zaman, also known as Khawarey Mullah, who had been actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the region and was a wanted individual by law enforcement agencies, as per the ISPR.
During the operation, three valiant soldiers laid down their lives:
- Lance Naik Tabbasum Ul Haq, aged 36, hailing from Rawalpindi district.
- Sepoy Naeem Akhtar, aged 30, from Attock district.
- Sepoy Abdul Hameed, aged 23, from Multan district.
In another intense firefight between the troops and terrorists in South Waziristan’s Asman Manza area, Sepoy Farman Ali, aged 25 and a resident of Kashmore district, “paid the ultimate sacrifice and embraced shahadat.”
Subsequent to the operation, a thorough sanitization process is underway to root out any remaining terrorists in the area, as stated by the ISPR.
“The security forces of Pakistan remain resolute in their commitment to eradicate the scourge of terrorism from the nation, and these brave sacrifices by our soldiers further fortify our determination.”
