According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Kulachi area of District Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan) on Wednesday. During a fierce exchange of fire between the troops and militants, one terrorist was killed, and another was injured.

The ISPR reported that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the deceased terrorist, who had been actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and the killing of innocent civilians.

The statement also mentioned that the area is currently undergoing sanitization to eliminate any other terrorists who may be present.

Local residents of the area expressed their appreciation for the operation, the ISPR added.

In a related context, last month, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir emphasized Pakistan’s role as a bulwark against terrorism and urged the international community to recognize the significant sacrifices made by the country in this regard. The COAS made these remarks during a meeting with a group of 38 students from Harvard University, representing nine different countries, at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, according to the ISPR.

During the interaction, General Munir discussed regional security issues and Pakistan Army’s contributions to promoting peace and stability in the region. He also highlighted Pakistan’s vast potential and encouraged the participants to form their perceptions of Pakistan based on their experiences during their stay.

Furthermore, General Munir drew attention to the human suffering and atrocities in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and attempts to alter the demographic realities in the region.

In early September, General Asim Munir underscored the importance of a robust economy for a strong defense, emphasizing that mutual cooperation is crucial for the country’s economic development. He also criticized those who sought to undermine the strong bond between the military and the people, noting that the Pakistan Army, as a national institution, had thwarted such efforts with patience and wisdom. Unity and trust between the military and the people were identified as invaluable assets by the COAS.
