Interim Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has embarked on a formal five-day journey to attend the 78th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA 78) session in New York, USA. During this visit, he is scheduled to engage in discussions with global leaders on the sidelines of the assembly.

Moreover, the prime minister will actively participate in a pivotal conference addressing climate change. His agenda also includes interactions with international media outlets and visits to prominent American think tanks.

In a related update from the Prime Minister’s Office last month, it was confirmed that Kakar would be one of the distinguished guests attending the traditional reception hosted by US President Joe Biden on the opening day of the summit. This reception will be held at the American Museum of Natural History, situated adjacent to the UN Headquarters in Manhattan.

Accompanying the interim prime minister on this journey is a small delegation comprising Foreign Minister Syed Jalil Abbas Jilani, Information and Broadcasting Minister Murtaza Solangi, Climate Change, Law, Parliamentary Affairs, and Water Resources Minister Ahmad Irfan Aslam, along with Foreign Secretary Muhammad Syrus Qazi.

Additionally, PM Kakar is scheduled to engage with the international media and visit renowned think tanks in the United States. His slot for addressing the UN summit is set for September 22. There are also indications that the prime minister may undertake a brief visit to Saudi Arabia and the UAE before proceeding to the United States.
