A 32-year-old lady constable from the Sindh police reportedly posted a video on TikTok expressing support for Israel while wearing her police uniform. The video quickly gained attention, prompting Sindh Inspector General (IG) of Police, Riffat Mukhtar, to take notice.
The viral TikTok video featured the lady constable endorsing Israel amidst the ongoing conflict in Gaza, where Israeli airstrikes had persisted for eight consecutive days, resulting in the loss of over 1,800 Palestinian lives, including 583 children. International concern was also raised over Israel’s alleged use of white phosphorus munitions in its recent military operations in Gaza and Lebanon, as reported by the Human Rights Watch (HRW).
Following the IG’s intervention, the lady police constable, identified as Sumbal Ghori, reportedly removed the video from the platform. However, the matter was subjected to an investigation led by the Special Branch DIG, Asif Aijaz Shaikh.
DIG Shaikh revealed that Ghori was currently assigned to the Special Protection Unit (SPU), responsible for the security of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He further stated that the constable had uploaded the video to gain popularity and increase her followers on TikTok.
Regarding her past behavior, it was disclosed that Ghori had been previously fined for misconduct in April 2023. She had also served in Korangi in 2019 and in Mirpur Khas in 2021.
Ghori, however, denied uploading the video on the video-sharing app, claiming that someone else had done it.
